Legend has it that Salt Water Taffy got its origin during a major flood in 1883. Candy Store owner, David Bradley’s boardwalk store was flooded and his merchandise was soaked with salty Atlantic Ocean water. A young girl came into the store asking for taffy and he offered her the only taffy he had, salt water taffy. She loved it and the rest, as they say, is history.
